Tips & Tricks: Dull dill dilemma?

I'm back with a tip I literally picked up today!

One of the things I least enjoy is when beautiful, green herbs and leaves turn yellow too fast before you get to use them.

My mom wanted to make my favorite Persian dill rice with lima bean dish (If you don't know what that is, click on my earlier post here: http://feedmytastebuds.blogspot.ae/2013/11/mina-simeena-mithl-3ajeena-persian-dill.html) but the dill we had was going yellow (not good since the green pigment in dill makes the rice turn green, hence green rice). So she decided to put the batch of dill in the freezer 2 days ago. Guess what? Today, she pulled it out of the freezer and it's beautifully, dark green again. I know, it's awesome! little victory dance anyone?

I haven't given this a try with any other herb but definitely worth giving a try to see if it works!

Home Sweet Home: Khala Mimi's Famous Turkey

Long time no see slash read slash virtually communicate? you know what I mean :)

I'm sorry it's been a while since I last posted. It's been a bit of a whirlwind of family in town and everyone being on holiday the past few weeks that I somehow neglected FMTB (although daily adventures on my Instagram continued to roar - woohoo! check that out).

I'd like to wish each and every one of you reading a happy new year! I think it's the most repeated saying but can you believe 2013 is already over? It's been a bit of a roller coaster but I would say for the good. I'm very happy and excited that I got to launch Feed My Taste Buds. I feel as though my love for food and passion for it is ever growing. I'm learning new things everyday. I'm constantly reading, watching and enjoying recipes, tasting new ingredients and so much more.

Ok. I think it's time to get on with the post. No?

With this time of year, the holidays, Christmas, and new year, it's all about being with your loved ones and indulging in beautiful, decadent, heavenly food. Let's be honest, when we think of this time of the year, turkey is definitely one of the things that come to mind.

Khala Mimi's Famous Turkey


My Aunt Mimi makes the BEST. TURKEY. OF. LIFE. Yup I said it. You haven't had turkey until you've tried hers. There's really nothing like it. I look forward to this every single year #turkeytrauma. 

It is beautifully crispy on the outside, yet moist on the inside. It is packed with herbs, garlic, nuts, raisins, fruits, mixed rice stuffing, lots and lots of sauce... It definitely isn't your average turkey with a side of cranberry sauce, I tell ya'.

One day, I'll create my own recipe and hope it stands close to my Aunt's! InshaAllah.

Any who, I don't want to make this post too long after a bit of a hiatus but I just wanted to say thanks for coming over and reading a bit about my foodie world and hope you stick around for more in 2014... :)
